The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

Karl Jenkins’ powerful call for hope and reconciliation

Join Gig Caritas for a moving and unforgettable evening of music!

At the heart of the programme is Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. Since its premiere, this modern classic has become one of the most performed choral works of our time — a profound journey from the menace of war to the hope of peace, told with soaring melodies and moments of breath taking intensity.

The concert also features Vaughan Williams’ radiant Five Mystical Songs, with baritone Alex Lindsay as soloist, bringing warmth and spiritual beauty to George Herbert’s poetry. To open the evening, Shostakovich’s dazzling Festive Overture bursts with energy and joy.

Performed by the Gig Caritas Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Keith Horsfall, this promises to be a moving and unforgettable concert — one not to be missed.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Kidderminster & District Youth Trust, which exists to support young people in the local community by providing safe spaces, activities, and opportunities that promote personal development, wellbeing, and social inclusion. Its purpose is to help young people build confidence, skills, and positive futures.
